Mariano Chiacchiarini

Recognized worldwide with the ECHO Music Prize, the German Record Critics’ Award, and the KONEX Prize in Music, Mariano Chiacchiarini began his international career by winning 1st Prize at the Teatro Colón Conducting Competition. This led to collaborations with the most prominent conductors, such as Sir S. Rattle, P. Boulez, P. Eötvös, R. Chailly, R. Muti, and B. Haitink, and to work with the most renowned orchestras, including the Hong Kong Phil, Filarmonica della Scala, Russian State Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, WDR Sinfonieorchester, Gulbenkian Orchestra and the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker.

HHe has been invited to major festivals, such as the Lucerne Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Young Euro Classic and the Donaueschinger Musiktage, and to prestigious concert venues including the Elbphilharmonie, Konzerthaus Vienna and Berlin, KKL Luzern, Tchaikovsky Hall Moscow, Teatro Colón, Deutsche Oper and l’Opéra Bastille.

Mariano has served as Music Director of Trier University, as Conductor of Ensemble Garage and since 2014 began his close cooperation with the National Symphony in Argentina. Recent distinctions include his participation in Barbara Hannigan’s Momentum Project, his appointment to the German Music Council, his recognition as an “Outstanding Personality of Culture” of his hometown, and the Premio Nacional Clásica. In 2025, he was named “Conductor of the Year” by the Music Critics Association at the Parliament of Buenos Aires.

In 2022, Mariano Chiacchiarini was appointed Universitätsmusikdirektor of the city of Bremen.
